What is your go-to Revive Superfoods smoothie?
Morning Mocha. Every Morning.
What made you want to work at Revive Superfoods?
When I first heard about this opportunity, I knew I had the right skills and experience to make positive changes, provide guidance, and leverage technology. Now I know I’m in the right place.
Describe a typical workday.
I start with daily Stand-Up meetings with key teams. With so many of us working from home, these video conference meetings are extremely important. We’ll talk about what everyone’s working on and what our goals are for the day and the week. I also meet online with external vendors. I prepare critical project briefs and continuously respond to the changing needs of my team and our customers.
What’s the most important part of your role as CTO?
To make sure that our business strategy is aligned with and enabled through technology. I’m responsible for the implementation of all internal and external technology systems. These support our people to do their jobs well. They also provide our customers with the most seamless experience possible.
What technological innovation will drastically change subscription-based companies in the next 5-10 years?
It has to be Artificial Intelligence (AI). It’s moving very fast and will change much of our industry’s e-commerce transactions and internal operations. Importantly, AI will allow us to deliver even more effective, personalized messages to our customers.
What’s the most challenging aspect of your position?
Managing growth. We are constantly making improvements in our technology, with very tight time frames. The challenge is to maintain a balance between optimal customer experience, available resources, and the long-term success of our business.
How do you keep yourself and your team motivated while working from home?
Virtual lunch meetings help us all maintain focus and balance. I keep the conversations open and informal to optimize both the mental health and productivity of my team. To keep me motivated, I ask, “What’s next?”. When I focus on the next step and put the customer experience first, I do more. And I do it better.
What differentiates Revive Superfoods from the competition?
Two things. First, Revive Superfoods has plant-based, healthy and nutritious products that are unique and delicious. That’s a key competitive advantage. Second, there’s a unique culture in the organization; every team member has a passion to create the best possible customer experience. Whether it’s our website, our marketing strategies, or superb customer service itself, everything we do is customer-centric.
What’s your go-to activity after a long day at work?
I spend time with my family. On weekdays, I’ll watch a movie with my daughters. On weekends we spend as much time as we can outdoors. Spring, summer and fall, it’s hikes, walks, or swimming. In the winter, we enjoy skating and skiing.
If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? Why?
Bill Gates because he is one of the most successful entrepreneurs alive. He built one of the greatest software companies in history.
What has been your biggest accomplishment since you’ve joined the Revive Superfoods team?
In my first four months on the job, we completely revamped most of our systems. We upgraded the infrastructure and made critical backend improvements. I’ve hired talented people who will help us develop our tech strategy as we expand. In 2021, we’ll be even more focused on making customer-facing enhancements. I am truly excited about the future of Revive Superfoods.
